Organic Okumidori matcha from Wazuka, Kyoto
Price: ≈ €2.40 per cup · Box 30 g
95,00€
The first thing you notice is the colour: a vivid, almost luminous green, the green of young spring leaves grown in shade.
The Duo is the Premium Matcha in a 60 g box: one MUSUBI tin and one 30 g resealable refill, so your second bowl is already waiting.
Our Premium Matcha comes from a single farm, the Nakai family’s, in Wazuka, in the hills south of Kyoto. Tea has grown here for more than 350 years, organically for more than 40 years. The Okumidori tea plants are traditionally shaded before the first spring harvest.
The leaves then rest for 5 months. In Japan, tea masters once kept their leaves sealed in jars until kuchikiri, the ceremonial opening each November. At the end of October, ours are ground on a stone mill at 30 to 40 g an hour; that patience is what gives the matcha its roundness.
In the bowl: a silky texture, natural sweetness, delicate umami and a gentle bitterness that closes each sip. Enjoy it pure, as usucha, with nothing but hot water. One bowl is enough to taste the difference.

Questions
What is “ceremonial” matcha?
The term has no official definition. We describe what matters instead: origin, cultivar, cultivation and taste in the bowl. Our Premium is made for usucha, the thin tea of the tea ceremony.
Is it organic?
Yes. JAS-certified organic, grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers.
Is it right for beginners?
Yes. Its sweetness and low bitterness make it a beautiful first encounter with matcha, and an everyday bowl for those who already love it.
Can I make a latte with it?
It shows its full character pure, with hot water, where every nuance comes through. Ryoko explains why in the Journal.
How does it differ from the Premium Reserve?
Same farm, same cultivar, same 5 months of rest. The Reserve exists in only 100 units and is deeper and more velvety; it also suits koicha, the thick tea.
How does the refill work?
Keep your tin and fill it with the 30 g resealable refill. The Duo comes with one refill, ready to pour into your tin.

I have been into matcha since years now and tried many of them. Musubi is top of the rank and it being organic is such a plus to me. Pleasure for the eyes, the nose and the mouth, with its vibrant color, fresh fragrance and elegant taste. First time ever I am considering a subscription.
