This natsume (棗) was created by Shinsui (峯清), featuring a vivid vermilion lacquer surface adorned with delicate gold maki-e depicting cranes and pine trees.
In Japanese aesthetics, cranes represent longevity and good fortune, while pine trees symbolise strength and enduring beauty. Together, these motifs bring a sense of harmony and auspiciousness to the tea ceremony.
