Shino Chawan by Ichirō Hori – One piece only.

1750,00€

A unique Shino chawan (志野焼) believed to be an early work by Ichirō Hori (堀 一郎). Hori is a highly regarded Japanese ceramic artist whose works are seldom seen on the market; comparable pieces are reported to trade in Japan in the range of €1500 to €3000.

His work is rooted in the ceramic traditions of Mino, with a practice centred on Shino, Ki-Seto, Seto-guro and natural-ash glazes. Having studied under Living National Treasure Kōzō Katō, Hori built an anagama kiln in Mizunami, Gifu, and has devoted his career to individual exhibitions rather than group or open-call shows.

A rare opportunity to acquire an individual work of this kind in Europe, where pieces by the artist are exceptionally difficult to find. Accompanied by its tomobako.
