Christmas Coffret – Ultimate Matcha Trio

The ultimate matcha experience, in three teas from the Nakai family in Wazuka, Kyoto. Tencha, the leaf before it becomes matcha: sweet and mellow like gyokuro, brewed as a leaf tea. With our Premium Matcha and Premium Reserve, the family’s top grade.

Every matcha begins as tencha 碾茶: shaded tea leaves, steamed, dried, then stone-milled at only 30–40 g per hour. This coffret lets you taste each step, from the leaf to the bowl.

Inside

• Tencha Premium, 30 g: the shaded leaves, steamed and dried, just before they are stone-milled into matcha. Enjoyed as a leaf tea, sweet and mellow, close to a gyokuro. Use 2–3 g of leaves for 100 ml of water at 50–60°C; the same leaves can be steeped 2 to 3 times. Rarely found in Europe, and available this Christmas only in our coffrets.
• Premium Matcha refill, 30 g: Okumidori cultivar, made for usucha, whisked simply with hot water. Around 90 kg produced each year. The matcha our customers come back for.
• Premium Reserve refill, 30 g: the family’s top grade, a higher grade of Okumidori than our Premium Matcha. Very limited quantities available this year.

All three teas come from the Nakai family in Wazuka, Kyoto: 350+ years of cultivation, JAS-certified organic for more than 40 years. Ranked 1st (ex aequo) among organic matchas on France Inter’s On Va Déguster.
