MUSUBI MATCHA was founded in April 2025 by Ryoko Benoist, a certified Japanese Tea Advisor.
Born in Tokyo, she grew up between Tokyo and Kyoto in a family of merchants where Japanese craftsmanship was part of everyday life. She has been based in France since 2011, where she first worked in the luxury and fashion industry across Tokyo, London, and Paris.
During the Covid period, she felt the need to reconnect with something more essential and deeply rooted in her culture. Matcha became an obvious path: its richness, depth, and strong connection to Japanese tradition immediately resonated with her.
This conviction led her to Wazuka, Kyoto, in October 2024, where she met tea producers directly. There, she discovered an exceptional organic matcha, cultivated with rare precision and dedication, and decided to launch MUSUBI MATCHA. She returned several times to gain an in-depth understanding of each step of the production process, building long-term relationships of trust with the producers.
In Japan, JAS-certified organic tea producers remain rare, and even more so in Kyoto. These are the producers—those who uphold this level of excellence generation after generation—that MUSUBI MATCHA has chosen to represent in Europe.
“Musubi” (結び) means “connection” or “link.” The mission of MUSUBI MATCHA is to connect people through the beauty of matcha while sharing an authentic culture that respects its origins.
From 2026, MUSUBI MATCHA strengthens this commitment by establishing an exclusive partnership with a family-run farm in Wazuka, a pioneer in JAS-certified organic tea. We exclusively distribute their highest-grade matcha in France and Italy through a direct, no-intermediary model, ensuring full transparency and traceability.
Our mission is to bring exceptional organic matcha to France and across Europe through direct relationships with producers.
Through a refined and demanding approach, MUSUBI MATCHA offers more than a product: a moment of calm, a precise gesture, and an authentic experience centered around exceptional matcha.
